a little inspiration

I cannot wait for Gatsby...

...and I know this because I've watched this trailer too many times.

I've also been working on a new and secret project. I can't really share any details, yet, but I've spent the day playing with colour ways and tweaking things on Photoshop and I am so, so pleased to say that things are slowly but surely taking shape! And work aside, I'm very, very excited to be moving into a new studio soon. It will give me a chance to keep focussed and, perhaps most excitingly, I'll have the space to try my hand at screen-printing again!

i kind of went and won...

...a Brit award! Of the Elle variety, anyway.

Last month, I was beyond chuffed to be featured in Elle Magazine's British trend awards. They featured my Boston Terrier scarf, which is currently being sold at Moska. It was such a lovely honour to be up there with some stalwarts of British design. (I kind of have my eye on that Smythson diary. I think it might be the very thing I need to get myself a little more organised! And those Church's brogues? So lovely!)

*On a side note, I sadly didn't win the Charlotte Taylor competition but I just wanted to say thank-you SO, SO much for voting! It really did mean the world!

can i ask a favour, please?

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about one of my favourite British designers, Charlotte Taylor. Since then, an opportunity has come up to win an afternoon with her, sipping tea and eating cake and talking all things print in Liberty's, London. (To those that don't know me: this is a pretty good summary of my perfect, perfect day).

If you could possibly head on over to Charlotte's Facebook page and vote for my corgi design to win, simply by "liking" it, I'd be eternally grateful! It is called "The Queen's Dookie" after the Queen's first Corgi and combines my usual ink drawing with a patriotic crest and colour way.

Thanks so much for your support!

I'll be back later on in the week with some inspiration!

desk envy

Today I have total desk envy.

When I'm not drawing at the kitchen table or sat on the living room floor - I like large scale! - I'm sat at my desk (usually wishing the progress bar on Photoshop to load that little bit quicker). These desks are beautiful  - especially that last one, which is Francois Houtin's studio. I can't think of a better place to get working on a  project! There's something so nice and antique about those colours.

the hankerer

In the last month or so, I've been lucky enough to have been featured (twice!) on the blog, The Hankerer. It's a lovely little place full of inspiring design - a lot of it is animal based, too! (And I certainly can't get enough of that blog title!)

If you'd like to take a look at what was featured, go here and here. I'm always so grateful and above all else, absolutely flattered!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. I'll see you all next week!

charlotte taylor.

Hi there!

I thought I'd share a few of the Charlotte Taylor designs that I've been lusting after, lately. I love the boldness and the colour and her use of a flattering, feminine silhouette! And the whimsy! I can't get enough of that. There is a kind of subdued chaos to it. And these pictures below are just eccentric enough - the first two seem very Wuthering Heights!

I also love the styling. If I could pull off those little ankle socks, I would.

Oh! And I have some good news! I've been drawing again. I may have had a bit of a tantrum earlier on in the week (pencils and paper are far too hard for Wednesdays) but I've finally done some sketches!

last month...

...I was in Glamour magazine!

One of my fox scarves was styled in their photography feature (and boy did I let out a little bit of a squeal when I saw it!).

You can take a look at it, and the other scarves I do, at The Graduate Collection.

And I'll be back later on in the week sharing a few of the things that are inspiring me lately. I've just got a Pinterest account and I've been pinning like crazy!
